Anubis was actually surprised that she helped him get free of that rubble. He flexed his tail to make sure it wasn't permanently damaged. It wasn't, but it did hurt to move to much, so he stopped.
"Thank you for the help there. I could have been stuck there for a while if it weren't for you," Anubis said, standing back into his full Anubian form. Noticing that she was leaving, he waffled over the idea of going after her, but decided that since she helped him, he should probably pay her back by letting her go.
"I guess I owe you, so I guess this is goodbye for now," Anubis said, watching her go. Luckily no one else was around to know that he had let her leave.

Jinx huffed and turned away from him. She really didn't want to be thanked. She hadn't really wanted to help him in the first place. And she didn't know why she had anyway. She was a villain! One of the worst, or so she liked to think. He had just gotten lucky of finding her on a weak moment.
"Don't thank me. You just got lucky." She spatted, obviously upset with herself. She moved to walk away and his words weren't missed. Ugh. She should had let him where he was, waiting for another good guy to go save him. Why did she help him anyway? She was lucky brother Blood hadn't seen that...
"Good bye." She replied and walked away. No need to dwell on something that wasn't important...

"I owe you one! I won't forget it!" Alex said, now back in his human form. He smiled as she left. He had proved that she had some good in her and that she wasn't quite as evil as she thought she was. Even if he had just gotten some dumb luck, it still made her seem like a good person, even if only for a moment.
"I promise! I will never forget your kindness!" he shouted after the girl, knowing he was probably getting on her nerves. But then again, he still needed to find out her name. Realizing this, he started to run after her. "By the way, what's your name? You never did say it."

"Grr..." Jinx actually growled, acting more like the dog she'd teased him to be, when he yelled that. Owe her what? He owed her nothing! She hadn't even wanted to help him! It had just be some... involuntary stupidity moment. Yes! That was it! Her mind had disconnected for a second there when he'd been whimpering. He was a puppy! A cute little puppy! And she was a girl so for a moment there, she'd lost her mind.
And he just HAVE to keep it up, didn't he? Ugh. Jinx contemplated actually going back and finish the job, if it wasn't for the fact that she would risk losing her precious jewels. Of course, she heard his steps coming closer and she turned suddenly, taking her position for Alpha one solo attack. He probably was going after her after all. Slimy, lacking of honor, little- What?
Jinx blinked at the boy in surprise. Her name? He wanted to know her name? Jinx actually blushed at the thought. Why would he want to know? They were enemies! They ought to hate each other! Names weren't important!
"...Jinx." Wait, what? Ugh. Jinx covered her face with a hand, actually smacking herself for talking before thinking. Damn him for confusing her. "And go away before I change my mind about you!"

"Oh come on! I'm done fighting you for now and you helped me out, so we can be friends, even if we are on opposite sides of the law. I'll just owe you that one favor, and then neither of us has to owe the other anything, deal?" Alex said, hoping that Jinx might appreciate his offer of friendship.
Really, he did think it would be better to have her as a friend than as an enemy. They might be on opposite sides, but that doesn't mean they can't be Friendly Enemies, right? Or was it Enemy Friends? Either way, friends complicated by circumstance. "Doesn't that seem agreeable, Jinx?"

Done fighting her? Jinx's eyes widened and she dropped the fighting pose. She couldn't hide her surprise. She blinked a couple of times as she stared at the boy. He really was being honest, wasn't he? He truly was a good guy... And he wanted to be friends with her too...
Jinx kept quiet, actually looking like a deer in front of the highlights. This was the first time a good guy had wanted to be her friend. Actually said it too. She wasn't sure what to think of him now. She'd always thought the Titans to be honor less and mean, but this boy... And then he called her by her name.
Her eyes suddenly turned pink and the floor beneath him cracked a little bit. It wasn't the huge explosion it had before. Just a noticeable crack that told him not to get closer. "Who do you think I am?" She asked, placing a hand on her hip and looking at him under her nose. "I'm one of the bad ones, Fido. I don't befriend your kind."
She took a step back, looking more and more like a scared cat. You could almost see her hair starting to stand. "And you don't owe me anything. AND DON'T TELL ANYONE I LET YOU GO!" Again, she took a step back, ready for him to jump at her any second. She wasn't a fool. Promises of friendship were nothing but empty words. She'd learnt that the tough way.

"I think you're Jinx, the girl who let me go."
Alex just stood where he was. He had learned from his dad that you have to stand your ground when you make an offer, regardless of the consequences. She may have called him a dog, again, and told him that he didn't owe her anything, but he had a code of honor to uphold regardless of what side he was on.
"Friendship isn't limited by what side we're on, Jinx. I may be a Titan, but I do owe you for letting me go. Does my offer of friendship really sound that bad?" Alex asked.

Jinx actually let out a yell of frustration as he insisted that she'd let him go. It was true but she still hated it. "Don't say that!" She yelled at him, the floor cracking again as her yes turned pink with her anger. She hadn't meant to do that, but she could lose control, especially when she was angry.
Friendship wasn't limited by the side they were on. She huffed at that, crossing her arms and looking away from him. "Oh, yeah? Ask Robin that. He'll give you a lesson or two about how to be a hero."
He really wasn't listening to reason here. Jinx sighed and actually took a step towards him. "Why are you so interested anyway?" She asked, throwing her arms in desperation. He really didn't get it, did he? "It's not like you'll get anything from being my friend."

"Screw what side I'm on! Robin can't tell me who I can and can't be friends with. Only I can decide that. If that means I'm not a hero, then I'm not a hero. If that means that I'm not a Titan, then screw the Titans," Alex said, a decent amount of anger seeping into his voice. This girl! It's like she didn't understand how to have a friend.
"I don't expect to get anything from your friendship except that: your friendship," Alex said, calming down a bit. He breathed out slowly, not wanting to lose control. He had decided to ignore the ground further cracking beneath his feet, but if it did again, he considered moving. "And what about you? Why is it so hard for you to accept my friendship. It's not like there's any strings attached."

Well... that was unexpected. Jinx blinked again. Screw Robin. She liked that. She placed her hands on her waist and smiled at him. An actual smile, not one of her haughty smirks. Screw the Titans. Her smile grew even bigger.
"Are you sure you want to be saying something like that?" She asked, "Someone might be listening." She wouldn't put it pass Robin to install cameras all over the city. Screw the citizens privacy. He would catch some bad guys!
He just wanted her friendship? She rolled her eyes, though she was still smiling. "Fine. Whatever." It was sort of her way of agreeing. "But if you ever come in my way I won't be so pleasant." And then he asked it. Why was it so hard for her to accept it.
"I have my reasons." Everyone was evil. She couldn't say that, could she? Good guys. Bad guys. They were all made from the same material. People were naturally selfish and they only looked out for themselves. Friendship was nonexistent in the end. Everybody looked out for themselves and themselves only. But maybe he had that 'let's be friends' thing because he was a dog. The mere thought brought an amused smile to her face.

Alex didn't like the way she smiled about what he said, but he understood her meaning about someone listening. For all he knew, one of the other Titans was around or Robin had placed mics across the city. But then she responded.
"Yes! Victory!" he said, elated by her acceptance. He even went so far as to do the V for Victory sign. But she kept talking. Something about unpleasantness if he were to get in her way. He mimicked the expression Jinx had used. "Fine. Whatever."
Yes, a victory for Alex! Or at least that's how he viewed it. Anubis, bringing the world together, one friendship at a time. Sounded good to him! He smiled, pleased with himself.

Jinx let out a small giggle before she caught herself and rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest and huffing. He was such a loser. "Seriously, who does that?!" She said, nodding towards the whole V sign thing. He really got excited over nothing.
"I'm just amusing you so you leave me alone." She added, not wanting to ruin her tough girl image with the whole friendship thing. "Don't get too excited over something so silly. I'll still kill you if I have the chance."
He wasn't taking her threats too seriously. It only made her glare more at him. He was just so pleased with himself because she had agreed to something so stupid. "You have no hold on me. You know that, right?" She added, trying her hardest to disappoint him. "Just because I agreed to something so ridiculous doesn't mean we'll actually hang around each other!"
It was useless. Mostly because right then, she wasn't attacking and she was actually only talking, which probably counted in the hanging out category. Damn him!

"Who does this?" *points at hand with other hand* "I do this. Obviously." *more pointing*
Alex really was amused. So what if she was just saying things to please him? He felt satisfied with himself. A victory's a victory, right? And of course he had no hold on her. He'd already said that there were no strings attached to their friendship, hadn't he? And as far as hanging out went, Alex was pretty sure that them chatting in the street qualified as "hanging out."
"So, want to go out for pizza?" Alex asked, the same satisfied smile on his face.

"UGH!" Jinx couldn't control her anger when people just acted that way. Could she take it back? The friends thing? She looked at him wearing that confident overly excited smile and she sighed before pursing her lips. Obviously not. What was so great about her anyway? She really didn't understand men.
And he wasn't listening to a single word she was saying. Yes. He pretty much acted like her other friends in the H.I.V.E. She really needed to get herself some female friends. Maybe they would listen.
She looked at him with a bored expression, her arms crossed over her chest, as he asked his question so lightly. Of course her eyes shone pink for a moment and the ground under him cracked again.
"Don't flatter yourself." Was her answer and she turned to finally leave. "I'm going home. And don't try following me." And she started walking away. She'd never met someone as infuriating as Fido here. It was then when she realized she didn't know his name... She stopped for a moment, looking over her shoulder. Should she ask? It was only fair. He knew hers! That gave some sort of advantage over the other, right?
The only thing was, she couldn't bring herself to ask just like that.

As the ground cracked under him again, Alex took a step to the left, out of the area of cracked concrete. Alex watched as she again started to walk away. Going home. Sounded good to him, but something was nagging him at the back of his mind. Something important. Something that couldn't wait. Was it food? No, not food, something more important. He thought, and thought, and focused.
Oh! I got it!
"By the way, my name's Alex!" he called after Jinx. He was kind of angry with himself for almost forgetting to tell Jinx his own name. She had been kind enough to tell him hers. Man, I can't believe I almost forgot to tell her my name. That would have bothered me for quite a while.
