Why did looking at something so beautifully bright hurt so much to the point of blindness? It was the way life worked; the things in life that are the most enjoyable--namely her planet Tamaran-- were near unreachable without hurting yourself to do such. She'd almost left the Teen Titans just for the planet that day, but hadn't because no matter what stood in her way, her friendship with them would always be there. It was a pull, one that was gravitational, to one side, and the same to the other. It was a matter of keeping them balanced. And so that was what led Star to be outside at Dusk, floating in the air, legs crossed in meditation. She spoke the words Raven had given her to meditate, her mantra. "Azarath metreos..." It keep her mind at ease, and she was at her center. It was broken easily though as she heard a noise. A breeze? Maybe someone? "Hello?" the girl called out, standing straight, hands cupped around her mouth.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Asked Nightshade, he was about to take off for patrol. A vampire, a half vampire to be more exact, was like a tumbleweed. A being with no roots, no companionship to attach himself to besides other vampires. Yet even then he would never stay with his own kind, feeling betrayed when his vampire father left his mother to die and give Nightshade Existence.
The last time He felt close to someone was the priest. He was a father in both church and in Baki's heart. When in times of peace it is said "it is the sons that bury the fathers" yet in times of war "It is the fathers that bury there sons." As soon as His adoptive father was killed, that was when Nightshade had closed himself to the world. Yet inside he still longer for companionship.
"It's beatiful isn't it?" Nightshade asked his fellow titan, the dark skies revealing the bright and shining stars in the sky. "It is because the natural darkness that the true beauty of the universe is present"he stated.

"So very much so." she commented, the green eyed girl's eyes trailing up towards the turning starry sky, only the edge of the horizon still touched with a bit of pink, and the rest developing into a dark hue of blue. Of course, it wasn't blue in reality, it was black. Darkness with holes of light bore through. "But for there to be such a great darkness, there must be light." was all she could say to that statement. And she knew it to be so. After being so horribly abuse, darkness that was pure hate and blind rage had filled her heart, something that Tamaraneans should never see or know. And when she started to calm down on Earth, little pieces of light came back, making her heart a mosaic of light. Her heart shone now, at least, so she and some of the Titans thought. For good.

"Yet light cannot exist without the dark, it is a pure balance. A balance that is beatiful to see, don't you agree?" He querried. He sheathed his sword deciding to make conversation with his fellow titan.

"It could be, only if they could balance. They should, really, but they do not most of the time. Peace happens when they do." she mused, sitting back down at looking at him. She expected him to sit down with her, but for extra measure, she patted the ground beside her in a inviting manner, not flirty but friendly. With a soft smile on her face, she decided to switch the topic. "Has everything been going well? Is there anything that I may do the helping with?" she spoke, the last sentence not correct but understandable.

Nightshade smiled at the alien, feeling the oppurtunity to start a friendship he sat down next to her. He heard her ask how things were going and he smiled at her. She was certainly friendly, and seemed well enough to talk to. "Everything would be as most normal teenagers would say 'boring' around the tower. Most of the titans are away and not to mention things are going somewhat quite on the city. I haven't nailed a bad guy in a week." He sighned. Leaning back he crossed his arms behind his head to rest comfortabley and gaze at the stars.
"Thanks for the offer, by the way. I appreciate you looking out for a freak like me..." he said turning sadly away.

"You...are not.. a freak.." she said, disappointment in her voice. She was a 'freak', no matter how much the other Titans told her she wasn't. But she didn't grow up here, and her eyes were a total green. That was not what they called 'normal'. She was an alien. Just remembering this made her feel unstable. She stood up with a sigh, and flew away from the Tower, towards the horizon. Not a word was left behind as she flew down towards the water, her hands skimming it's gentle surface. "I am the freak." she whispered to herself, not for anyone to hear her.

Nightshade smiled that she thought of him as not a freak. He felt he pinched a nerve or figured he made Starfire unwanted or uncomfterable in some way which was the opposite of his goal. He wanted her to like him and now she had run off. Usually he would let other people leave him as they have for the past few decades but she was diffrent.
He wanted to officially befriend the Heroine so he dropped his sword where it was and running off the tower and jumping off the railing to accelerate forward. Feeliing the rush of air around and behind him.
"Starfire! Hold on!" Night shade called after her, his voice loud enough to be heard yet not loud enough to become a yell. It was quiet in the dark sky the dusk had become an early Dark shade of blue closer to a violet than anything else.

Hearing the yell, Star skidded to a stop, now suspended in midair, almost giving the illusion that she was standing on water. Her lips pulled up into a slight smile, one that was sad but seemed happy enough. "I am fine." she said, forcing her lips into a larger smile, though it would fool no one.

Nightshade forced a smile on himself as well. She smiled yet it didn't fool Nightshade. He hovered in midair five inches from the surface of the still water. His hands at his side and his glowing red eyes gazing on Starfire. He couldn't think of anything to really say yet he wanted ot let her know she was wanted. But what could he do?
An idea came to Nightshade. Using his swift Vampiric speed and flight he appeared right infront of starfire, and hugged her.
