Alex wandered about the park. The trees were a beautiful shade of green today and the sun was bright. Birds were chirping and kids were laughing as they played in the distance. Alex was thoroughly enjoying his free time while it lasted.
He watched as a kid threw a frisbee to his father and back. It reminded him of how much he disliked all the dog related nicknames he got, but how he couldn't resist some of the dog-like tendencies that overcame him, like the one he was feeling now.
Turning straight into a jackal, Anubis ran at the frizbee and caught it in his teeth in midair. It was quite an impressive catch, considering it was thrown almost straight up and was nearly six feet in the air. Turning about to show off his catch, he saw the father of the boy already on the phone, calling for animal control.
Crap.

Starfire was enjoying the wonders of this...was it..it was called a park, right? Yes, it was called a park. The English language wasn't that hard most of the time for Starfire, but through assimilation meant learning the basics. None of the slang, just good, old, proper English. What Tamaraneans spoke was so much easier, to her at least. They had none of these places on Tamaran, just homes and the castle where she had stayed. She would have to inform the Emperor, the man she was proud to call her K'norfka, about these strange 'parks'.
Then, she noticed a blur. Looking straight at it, she finally figured out what it was. A half-human, half-animal thing that had just transformed to catch a flying disk. And now, the family which had a scared look on their faces were calling the cops on the boy, and for once Starfire intervened, though she had been working non-stop for the past two days. "What is the problem here?" she floated over simply, a concerned look on her face that shifted from the boy/jackal to the family.

"Uh, sorry. Couldn't help myself," Anubis tried to say from behind the fizbee. He was still in jackal form as opposed to his jackal-man form. He simply looked like a completely grey jackal even though more than likely the people thought he just looked like a weird dog without a collar.
He set down the frizbee at his feet and transformed back into his human form. After doing so, Alex picked up the frizbee and turned toward Starfire to try to explain what happened.
"Sorry, I was walking through the park and I saw a frizbee in midair and couldn't help myself from trying to catch it," Alex said, explaining his actions.
"Um, excuse me. Could we get out frizbee back?" the father of the family asked.
"Oh, sure. Here," Alex said, offering it back to the father. The man took it, snatching it away from Alex's hand in fright.

Starfire was very used to seeing people turn into animals--namely Beast Boy-- and instantly felt sorry for the jackal. He was being looked at as if he was a freak. Just like she had been, and sometimes still was. It didn't bother her as much as it used to, since the people that were closest to her understood her 'weird' ways. Watching as the family took the frisbee back, she went up to Anubis and started to talk. "Are you okay?" she asked.

Alex was sure he didn't have to take this from this guy. He helped save the city all the time and didn't deserve this kind of disrespect. He turned away from the family and tried to put a good face on as he turned toward Starfire.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Alex lied. He was most definitely not "fine," but he wasn't about to let it ruin his day. "You're Starfire, right? I'm Alex, a fellow Titan."
