Robin crept in the shadows, blue eyes searching carefully behind the ever-present mask for any signs of activity. It was late; nearing midnight evident by the moon glaring brightly in the velvet night sky, and it was strange for anyone, let alone a teen titan, to be walking the streets of downtown Jump City at such an hour. A soft smile graced his young features as he spied his destination not too far from his current position – Tito’s junkyard. A quick glance around told the hero that no-one was watching, and he proceeded to dart out of the alley and head for the junkyard.
It was closed at this time, but there was nothing to stop anyone getting in, so his entrance went unobstructed. A sigh escaped his lips as he realised the person he’d meant to meet here hadn’t shown, and he cursed silently as he gazed around at the heaps of junk that rose like skyscrapers in the large open space.
“Just my luck, he doesn’t show....” he muttered, turning to leave, hoping he’d be able to get in a couple of hours sleep before having to wake up to train and be ready for any titan alerts. Stretching his arms out, he moved to leave, but stilled as he saw movement in the corner of his eye. Robin moved with cat-like speed, his body crouching and his bo-staff out and extended in moments, the movement causing his cape to flutter ever so slightly in his wake.
“Who’s there?” he called boldly, sure that whatever had caused the slight commotion was more than a mere scurrying rat. His eyes widened in mild surprise as the figure moved again, and he caught sight of someone he didn’t expect to see tonight.
((OOC: I’m a bit rusty, but I should be fine soon enough))

And from the shadows morphed Envy. He looked but a shadow, in his dark gray jeans and black jacket, shadows dancing around his body. He seemed to naturally morph into the night, living in the dimension of the shadows and in the real world that the same time. Fresh from waking from a nap, lasting way longer than he expected, Envy was a little grumpy, his spiky white hair going in all possible directions.
At first he was surprised to see anyone sneaking around Tito's junkyard at such a late hour. After all, it was a hangout for villains and the like. Reaching into his pocket, Envy drew a small pack of cigars out, drawing one at clipping the end of it. With a flick of his wrist the still open box half ejected one cigar. Envy put his clipped on in his mouth and drew a lighter from his other pocket, lighting up the end of his cigar.
Envy inhaled the fumes, stashing the lighter and pulling the cigar out of his mouth to blow out a ring of smoke at the boy. "Who me? Well, I go by lots of names. Leonid Youngblood, Edgar Nightwing, Jace Ravenscar, Arata Mugen, Ceil Ravenscar, Avenging Child, Demon, Eaite Valentine Thorne, and above all else..." Envy rested to take another puff and for dramatic effect. "Envy." He took a larger puff now, exhaling a large cloud of gas. "Cigar?" He asked, raising the small box.

Alex was lost. So completely and hopelessly lost. Dang it. Why didn't I take a right at that last junk pile. Or perhaps I should have taken a left at the one before that... How the heck did I get here anyway?! he thought frantically. He'd managed to get himself lost in the junkyard, again. It was only the second time he'd gotten lost here, but he still had no idea on how to navigate this place. It was like it was built to be a maze for him to get lost in.
But then he heard some voices coming from up ahead. Oh good, maybe someone up there knows how to get out of here, he thought, relief rushing into him. Alex headed straight toward the voices he had heard, which involved going right over a large junk pile.
Right as he managed to reach the top, Alex's handhold gave way, causing him to slip and tumble forward. He landed right inbetween the two guys that had been talking.
"Uh, hi?"

Robin straightened up, eyeing the white-haired teen with suspicion, mainly due to his relaxed nature in such a place at an hour like this. The bedhead and dishevelled appearance suggested he’d either been sleeping or engaged in some sort of physical activity, though Robin didn’t rule out either option as a possibility. He stopped analysing for a moment, and instead listened as the other listed his titles, an elaborate display for someone who he’d just met. His eyebrow raised – he hadn’t heard any of the names, but something about him made the hero slightly uneasy.
Smiling wryly, he held up a hand, feigning politeness as he denied the generous offer, keeping a well-trained eye on his new companion. “No thank you” he replied, as he stowed away his bo-staff, fairly certain that he wouldn’t need it anymore. Robin was about to ask the teen what had brought him here this night, when he was interrupted by a commotion to his left, which resulted in someone tumbling in between the two of them almost comically.
Alex? he thought numbly, watching him untangle himself from the stray pieces of obsolete machinery that littered the junkyard.
“O.....K” he replied, eyeing both of them warily, resisting the urge to yawn – he’d had a long day, with three titan alerts as well as being led out here and his source not meeting up at the correct time and place.

The boy looked familiar to him, yet Envy could not put his finger on it. Where had he seen him before? Black spiky hair, ridiculous outfit, more gadgets than a SWAT team. The boy arriving screwed up his thinking, so Envy just ignored him. Just... something of that boy irked him. A strong, overbearing watched over him, enough for Envy to crouch on the ground. Only demons brought that much power, or his sibling Wrath, but there was no one but that small dark boy and that strange teen.
And only then, on his knees, did Envy noticed the R on his suit. "Robin..." Envy spat with disgust, rising. "It was you and your goody friends that stopped my father." Envy puffed from his cigar, the feeling not as pleasurable anymore. "And you have my sister with you." Envy thought of Raven, the sibling that forsake her background. It was so pitiful that Envy saved her for last. He thought he could take Raven, but five sins for backup would help a whole lot.
"I'll need her, y'know? But I don't wanna take her now. No fun in that."

Alex stood, picking pieces of wiring out of his hair and trying to rub the oil out of his jacket. The area smelled of oil and grease, but he could still smell the souls of the two that were there with him. Robin's was familiar and he'd recognized it right away, but the other one... The other one's soul was disturbingly rancid, corrupt in some insidious way.
But still, Alex didn't actually want to be prejudiced against him without actually getting to know him, though the way he said that Robin and Co. had stopped his father certainly sounded like there was some grudging anger underneath. Oh well, he hasn't actually done anything wrong, yet. No reason to jump the gun and do something stupid, Alex thought, trying to not gag on the stench of the boy's soul.
"Sorry if I'm invading on your conversation, guys. I managed to get lost in this junkyard again," Alex said, trying to apologize to Robin and the other fellow.

The contempt in Envy’s voice was evident, and Robin began to think that this guy might be gearing up for a fight. The fact that he had an ally here, as well as the fact that he was fully armed and ready was some small comfort, though he would rather find a diplomatic solution, especially as the white-haired boy hadn’t shown any open hostility yet, despite his harsh words. His mind came to a possible conclusion within seconds, though he doubted the truth of this option – Raven couldn’t really have a brother, surely the Titans would’ve known about it. It wasn’t that Robin didn’t have friends, especially since the formation of the Titans network, but that father comment suggested that he was referring to their defeat of Trigon.
Is this guy for real? he thought, starting to doubt the truth of his words. “You mean you’re the son of Trigon?” he asked, doubt evident in his tone, wanting to make sure his conclusion was right before he decided how to deal with that news. Robin rolled his eyes beneath his mask as Alex stood and straightened up, apologising despite the obvious tension between them. He spared him a nod before turning back to the self-proclaimed brother of Raven.
“Need her?” he muttered angrily, his brow creasing as he started to feel a small hint of anger rise in him, but he quelled it fast, waiting for more information before making a move.

"Well Robin," Envy spoke, once again leaning against the pile of cars behind him. A fight now wouldn't really be in Envy's favor, having guessed that Anubis was in support of Robin in this situation. He could have been a Titan, but Envy had seen smaller children than him with great powers."Yes I am the son of Trigon. Actually one of seven children. There used to be hundreds, but Trigon has now chosen to concentrate on a smaller number, because most of the others died before that could help him."
Envy paused now, taking another drag of the cigar, expelling the cancerous gases slowly through his nostrils. "I need Raven because she's like a portal to Trigon's realm. Only our combined powers will bring Trigon here." Envy stood up now, wiping the dust off his clothes. "On that message I must depart." Darkness now clouded and swirled around him once again. "Expect us all very soon." And then all of the shadows forced themselves to a blanket around him and disappeared. Envy was gone.
[ENVY has left the thread.]

"Well, that was unexpected. And a bit ominous, wouldn't you say, Robin?" Alex asked, still taken aback by what the strange, white-haired boy had just said. Wow, Trigon. The big demon himself. I don't even know if we can handle something like that. Oh boy, he thought exasperatedly.
The smell of the cigar lingered, and annoyed Alex's nose with its scent of tobacco. He waved his hand in front of his face, hoping to blow away the smell some. Soon. How soon? he thought. The message was definitely ominous, but it was a warning.

Even with the clarification the white-haired boy offered, Robin doubted the truth of his words, despite his instincts screaming that there was something foreboding about that teen. Robin also wondered why he had revealed his plan so easily – was he that confident in his own skills? He made a mental note to ask Raven about it, and to keep an eye out for him, but the titans had dealt with many criminals professing to be far more powerful or important than they really were, and Robin had yet to confirm Envy’s claim. The dramatic exit was laced with an ominous warning, and he sneered slightly after the other had left.
“Damn pretentious guy...” he muttered to himself, turning to Alex, who seemed less affected by the turn of events than himself. As he turned to Alex, inclined to agree, he suddenly wondered why the young hero was out of the tower at such a time, he had been sure that all inhabitants of the Tower were sound asleep.
“Yeah, but so far it’s only a threat” he replied nonchalantly, “Why are you out so late?” he asked, a small frown creasing his young features. The teen turned to walk, gesturing for Alex to follow him as he made his way towards the city, away from the centre of the junkyard where they had just been situated.

Alex barely heard what Robin mumbled. He was glad they were moving, getting away from the scent of that guy. He could already smell more of the city as they started to get nearer to the exit of the junkyard.
"I like late night walks and managed to find myself here. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to navigate this place and I got lost. The only reason I found you guys was that I could hear you two talking," Alex said, following Robin. He really just liked to be outside, but he always seemed to get lost. "By the way, who was that guy?"

Robin nodded as he listened, trying to keep his mind on getting back and sleeping, knowing that he’d have to question Raven soon enough and at least get some intel on that odd guy, even if he didn’t believe his bold claim. Stretching his arms out as he walked, he suppressed a yawn, gazing up at the dark sky dotted with stars; the darkness of the night seemed to push down upon the immovable Jump City.
“I don’t know. He claimed to be Raven’s brother, but I don’t buy it” he told Alex, nearing the edge of the junkyard, the giant tower visible on the horizon. Though he still had a mountain of paperwork to do for the JCPD and to review the reports sent in from Titans East, he still intended to get some good sleep, though he’d still probably be the first one awake in the tower, especially as Beast Boy didn’t usually enter the ops room until afternoon.
Robin wished he’d taken the R-cycle there tonight, as opposed to going by foot in an attempt to be stealthy and unnoticed by the other inhabitants of the tower. Still, it gave him a chance to mull over a few things, and some time to consider what he’d do about the source that had skipped their meeting.

Hmm, Raven's brother... That would explain why I felt as if his soul smelled familiar. But what could he mean about their father? I don't know enough about Raven or her family to know what he means about their father, Alex thought, but after that his thoughts began to wander. He was starting to feel a bit sleepy, though he kept going on to the Tower, which he could now see.
"So what were you doing out of the tower this late?" Alex asked, voicing a thought that had been nagging him for a few minutes. It wasn't odd that Robin be awake this late at night, but Alex had never encountered him on his late night walks.

Robin eyed the boy warily; he had been expecting that question to come from him ever since he tumbled into his sights back in the junkyard. However, though he had been expecting it he didn’t welcome it, and he didn’t want to draw too much attention to the fact that his business tonight was a rather dubious affair for a hero of his calibre. He straightened unconsciously, turning to regard Alex with hidden eyes. Robin was painfully aware of how quiet the city was at this time, and took a moment to glance at the long shadows created by the flickering lampposts that dotted the long street.
I’m going to have to level with him he thought, as he coughed, a cover for the few seconds of silence that had followed the question. “I have a source, someone who knows a lot about the criminals round here” he told him, leaving out the fact that the source was a former criminal himself. “I needed information, there’s been a string of fires recently that I suspect weren’t all accidental” he finished, running a gloved hand through his spiked hair.
It wasn’t rare for the boy wonder to be up at this time of night, in fact out of all the titans he would usually retire to bed last. Though his usual night-time activities were limited to paperwork or training, and he seldom ventured from the tower at such a time, with the exception of any titan alerts. Though with the recent rise in criminal activity, Robin found that titan alerts were coming both later and more frequently.
