"Seems kind of pointless to me but okay."
Jack didn't understand the point of all that just to look at a picture but maybe it was something you had to know. In time he would probably understand it all more. Though that time was a bit of ways off. Hearing about him being called nice caused Jack to let out a slight laugh. Maia was truly and interesting girl. Though Jack never saw himself as a nice guy. It was just something he couldn't do.
"A nice guy? Never been called nice before."
As Jack held his face Jack swiped his hand across it as Maia started to talk and watched her with his deep ice blue eyes. He just shook his head and lifted his hand. Maia seemed to actually care if he was okay and ever since he met her he had this strange feeling about it. Though Jack was not very in tune with his feelings.
"I'm fine. My body is naturally a bit warmer than a normal person. I could stand out in the snow all day and sleep. It's why I was able to live out in old abandoned houses for so long."
Jack scratched the back of his head and tried to assure her he was fine. Well as fine was for him. By normal health standards Jack has not eaten well in a few months. As well as not slept well or felt right for a while now. Though he never gets sick. His body keeps going mainly cause of the inhuman blood in him. Jack knew though he could never tell Maia that. She would probably worry to much and that is something he couldn't handle.
"I guess you can say I'm made to warm stuff up or live in cold climates."

"But you are! After all, you helped me where most would have run away or tried to do me harm. Plus when I'm like this the darker someone is the more depressed I get and I'm really happy around you so you can't be bad!" She couldn't help a small laugh at that. "Funny...from trying to make my father a vampire I'm a bit colder than a human. Makes it easier for me to run around when it's hot out."
Though the abandoned house did made her frown again. "You've been living in an abandoned house? Oh! You must stay at least one night! It would be wrong not to give you a nice place to stay for at least one night. We have the room, we really do. Even have some pajama bottoms you can probably borrow that might fit you."

"Okay you win. If you think I'm a nice guy then I'll just take your word for it."
When she spoke of how her body is slightly colder it kind of made sense to him. Every time Jack got close to her his body felt a little better and wanted to get closer. Though he never did something like that mainly cause he didn't want to freak her out. Jack was not like most people and didn't understand personal boundaries. He didn't want to do it from the fact he didn't want to get to close.
"I don't know Maia. It's really up to your parents and I don't know if I really belong in a place like this. I don't really mind sleeping on rubble or grass. It's not like I have money or a family in town."
Jack just laughed at it finding it a bit amusing. Though he knew very well Maia didn't find it funny. He had a firm grasp on anything he saw as just okay or bad about him she didn't like. Though it was still up to her parents for that and well Jack was still unsure what they thought of him. He was still a strange guy who was brought here.
"One more thing....What are pajama bottoms?"

"I know but as long as your not in the same room as me I'm sure they won't mind."
Blood Star gave a small nod, listening to him. "Well, except that you aren't used to what's considered an average house here you seem to fit in well so far." She almost asked how he knew that he had no family in town but stopped herself. That was bound to be a sensitive subject.
She couldn't help but laugh when he asked what pajama bottoms were. "Pajamas are what you wear when you sleep. Bottoms are the pants for them. Also have pajama shirts if you'd rather sleep fully clothed. They're meant to be more comfortable to sleep in."

"We are in the same room together now though....That mean this is bad?"
Jack very confused by the workings of a modern family could only find it giving him a head ache. Just this time was not cause of his fighting personality. This time it was cause it was all so confusing to understand. Folding his arms Jack started to look around the room wondering just why everything had to be some complicated. Though it just made him a bit more interested in just what it all meant.
"Well if you sleep in them I guess I could give it a try. I wouldn't give ma shirt though. I don't do so good with them."
Jack's stomach gave off a massive growl that filled the room and he just stared down at his stomach. The whole time he hasn't noticed that some odd smell was in the air. Then again he did have better sense of smell than most. He could tell Maia apart from the other members for her family by smell alone. Though what he smelled now was strange and it seemed to trigger something.
"I guess that is a reminder I haven't eaten today. Any ways. I wish I could tell you I could repay you but I can't. All my family is dead and I don't own anything."

"Ah! No. No...as long as we're not sleeping in the same room. Th-this is fine." She blushed, trying to hide it in her long hair. "Al-alright. No shirt! I'll remember that." Why...was she blushing? She'd never blushed before!
Her thoughts were cut off by the growl, giving a small laugh. "There's no need! In a way you saved me earlier. Besides...I'm not doing this expecting anything in return. I'm doing this because I want to. Shall we go check on my mom in the kitchen, then?"

"Oh okay. Not so clear but I get the basic understanding."
Jack saw the blush she was trying to hide and was a bit confused though he just waited to see what would happen next. It was odd though Jack was starting to ignore the fact he felt so out of place and was more concentrated on trying to learn more about Maia. She was an interesting person and was not someone he thought he would ever meet. She was someone he could be calm around.
"Yeah I guess we could go check and see what your mom is up to now."
After Jack finished speaking he just turned to walk toward where her mother went off to. Though Jack didn't stray to far from Maia a bit afraid still to interact with other people besides her. It was a strange feeling having someone you could be around. Jack had someone he could talk to and he knew she liked it to. More importantly for Jack though. She actually cared he existed.
"I think you should go first cause your mother makes me nervous."

Maia nodded, smiling as she moved in front of him. Slowly she entered the kitchen, sniffing the air and grinning. "Hm. Beef pot roast?!"
Her mother laughed, nodding. "Of course. Surprised your father hasn't come running down the stairs yet. His favorite after all. Oh, well. Better that he takes his medicine. And hello there, Jack! Enjoying it here so far? I know it's not much but it's home. Only so much we can do when Daniel can't get work."
"Um...mom. I was wondering....if Jack could stay at least one night."
"Oh! My little girl is being a real teenager!" Sophia beamed, hugging her daughter. "Having a friend staying over just like a normal girl! Makes me so happy! Of course. Of course! So long as he doesn't sleep in your room it's just fine!"

Jack watched as Maia entered the kitchen and Jack followed in after her. It was not like Jack to be nervous around people. Though he has come to notice the nicer the person the more nervous he was. Jack was only okay around Maia caused they talked about more personal things together and held a slight understanding or better. Hearing her mother bring up that same room thing again made Jack want to leave the room thinking he was doing something wrong again. Though he just stayed trying to reply to her earlier question about his stay here so far.
"You have a very beautiful house. It's the first house I have ever stayed in though that had a floor and a roof. All the ones I been in have nothing like that."
Jack didn't find it strange or bad he slept in old run down houses. Though Jack was also raised up in the mountains. Most of the things people think they need to live out day to day lives. Are not something Jack relies on. Stretching his back out fully Jack's tall six foot plus frame stretched out as his back cracked. Most of the time this was do to his awkward sleeping spots. Though in a way he didn't mind it. He could sleep on a bed of nails and not even flinch. Taking a slight bow holding his stance that changed from a normal person to a refined gentleman. His back perfectly straight and his voice changing from the cold usual tone to a more warm heart felt on. Looking down at the ground with one hand across his chest as he spoke.
"I want to properly thank you for letting me into your home Mrs. Sophia. Such a lovely home and family. I promise to never cause you any trouble and if you ever need any help. I will do anything you ask."
Jack went from being a street boy to a gentleman in a split second and Jack knew that it was not like him. Though he was raised by his uncle who was a noble man. In other words Jack's really way of acting is more out of instinct while like this Jack has a much more refined side than anyone could imagine. If one thing Jack was taught was that he was to be refined and well mannered. It was the first thing he was ever taught. Though he rarely used it. Finding now the best time. Straightning up Jack watched the mother and daughter with a more prideful gaze.
"And thank you Maia as well."

"The first? Oh, you poor dear. You can stay as long as you want."
Sophie was clearly sadden to hear this. It was clear where Maia got her big heart from. Then again the fact that she was still with her husband alone was probably enough to show how big her heart was. They were both surprised by the sudden transformation in Jack, Blood Star clearly trying to suppress a look of interested astonishment.
The mother quickly shook her head, a soft look on her face. "That's quite alright, Jack. No need for that. I'm just happy to help. Even happier my daughter has a real friend for the first time since this mess started."
It was a bit before Maia could speak, clearly caught off guard by the change in a good way. "It's nothing, Jack. Really. You saved me earlier. If anything I owe you."

"Thank you very much."
Jack looked over to Maia who seemed a bit surprised by his sudden actions. Though he wasn't really surprised to see that. Jack chose to live his life more care free cause that's how he wanted to live. It didn't mean he couldn't play the charming young man. Giving a smile towards Maia Jack spoke out in a soft tone as he watched her and her mother.
"If that surprises you I don't know if I should show you my other tricks."
Teasing slightly with his words Jack was a very strange person even to himself. Jack could never understand why he did something. It all just came to him on the fly. IN this case he saw it was needed to show more respect than normal. Of course Jack still had many more secrets that Maia probably just realized was true. Letting out another loud stomach growl Jack just scratched the back of his head looking around.
"Um I never had um...roasted anything but will it be much longer? My stomach doesn't have manners...."

At the growl, Maia couldn't help but give a small laugh, recovering from her shock. "It shouldn't be long. My mother doesn't cook it to much. Just enough to take care of anything in it that might harm her. Main reason we never go out; places don't cook meat as rare as we like it because of fear of things like parasites. Mad world, sadly. Businesses getting sued for anything that happened that the costumers didn't get warned about from them."
She shook her head as her mother pulled out the roast and nodded. "There we go. Daniel! Daniel! Oh, come on! I made beef pot roast! What is with your father tonight. Not a full moon or you'd be going crazy, too."
"Mom!" Maia's eyes went wide at that, shaking her head. "You have to bring that up. I-I hate it! Not the kind of thing to mention right now."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
Sophia gave a smile, her husband finally coming into the kitchen. "There you are! Come on! Time to eat!" She shook her head, working on serving it up for them all.
"Sorry. Got a bit drowsy. I'm find now, though. Now...how about we dig in!"

"So roasting means to cook? Never had a warm meal before...."
Jack sat down at the table and watched as Maia's mother called down for Maia's father. It must of been hard having to take medicine like that. Though Jack didn't know of how it all felt to him or Maia just like none of them knew about the constant pull at the back of his mind and the constant burning in his body. After hearing Maia get a little upset over her mom mentioning the full moon Jack just looked down at the table.
"I guess this is what family is like."
Jack spoke softly to himself and waited for everyone else to be seated. Every time Jack saw Maia's father he felt that urge to fight inside him. That was probably cause of that instinct of his again. Meaning his head was probably going to be hurting. Though the pain never came. Jack thought he may of been getting use to it though nothing was certain.
"So do a lot of people eat out like you say Maia?"

"Um, kind of. It's more how it's cooked." Maia smiled as they started digging in. "Mmm. Delicious as always, mom. Thank you." She heard his question and thought for a bit. "Um, from what I heard, yeah. At least now a days. I go out for pizza a lot in the day. Seems common among teens. I've even seen a few super heroes there a few times. Makes me feel....less out of place, you know."

Jack watched his plate for a few moments and without any time at all it was empty. The plate almost clean like nothing was even placed on it sat there empty as he smiled watching the plate. It was a long time before he had a meal. Never mind something that was cooked and prepared. This was the best meal he had in his whole life. Hearing Maia though caused him to laugh lightly and speak while spinning a fork on the tip of his finger.
"I don't really go out much. As for other heroes that live around her. I don't play to well with others. I was taught to be invisible to the world. So really to this world I don't exist. I don't even have a record of even being born."
Jack looked out the window across the kitchen and found himself remembering all those times he had to avoid people. It was the being alone part which drove him mad. Not the fact he loved to fight. Though Jack would never admit to this. He saw getting close to people as something he could lose. Having nothing to lose was his way of life. Though that was changing now.
"My uncle told me the world is made up much like a rainbow. So many sides to everything but everyone only seeing in black and white. Maia you fit in with everyone cause everyone has there own place."
